What are the external uncertainties that could play a key role in the development of our future?
Disruptions arising from macro-change factors represent those external uncertainties that affect businesses, governments, and society at large in a cross-cutting way, but are beyond the control of any single entity. The Disruption Wheel canvas will help you reason about and visualize the direct and indirect implications of perceived signals, training your thinking to consider the present and increasingly strong link between organization and ecosystem. It will also help you detect and connect signals of change so that you understand where they converge and how they could affect your organization.
Understanding what could affect our ecosystem today is essential to being able to provide an answer tomorrow
How to use the Disruption Wheel
1. First Step
Place your organization in the middle of the canvas.
2. Second Step
Identify and gather the signs of change that you have perceived within your ecosystem.
3. Third Step
Group and place these signals within the canvas paying attention to the macro-factor of reference and their influence level (strong signals and weak signals)
4. Fourth Step
Visualize the connections between different signals within the canvas; both within a macro-factor and between multiple macro-factors.
5. Fifth Step
Think and speculate how different existing relationships can or could affect your organization.
